Go On a Data Diet With Data Counter Widget for Android

If you have an Android phone, then you probably have a data connection. And unfortunately not all wireless providers offer unlimited data plans (*cough*AT&T*cough*). So many of us have to monitor our usage to avoid being overcharged. Even if you do have unlimited data, it can be interesting to see how much you use. Data Counter Widget measures data received and sent through both wireless networks and wifi. By default, it displays the information by daily use, but you can change it to show your weekly, monthly, yearly or total use. This app is a great way to learn how you use data, and since it's free in the market, you have nothing to lose.

Save Space with Multicon for Android

It happens to all of us. We have to completely reorganize our Android home screens because we don't have enough space to put all of our icons in the places we want them. Multicon fixes that. Multicon is a widget that allows you to put 4 application icons in the place of 1. You can customize the icons for the widget, and the number of rows and columns. The application itself has a clean UI and is very user friendly. One of my favorite features is the ability to edit the shortcuts and their order in the widget by launching the app after you have made the widget. You can also make the shortcuts toggle switches for ringer volume, wifi, airplane mode, and more. This is a fantastic app for making more space for yourself. It is currently free in the Android Marketplace.

App Mate for Android Review

If you're an Android user, chances are you have multiple launchers. And we all know that when it comes to organizing your folders, well let's just say its less then appealing to manually add individual apps for each folder. App Mate fixes that. Inside of the app, you can add applications to folders and even change the icons. But what makes this app really useful is the ability to add your pre-made folders to all of your different launchers' home screens and have them sync to each other when you update the folders in the app. Since I use 3 different launcher's daily, it is convenient to be able to add applications to a folder in one place and have all changes take affect in all locations of the folder. The one downside to this app is that you have to launch the App Mate to add apps to a folder as opposed to dragging and dropping as you would usually. App Mate is extremely helpful, and I would strongly recommend it. It is currently free in the Marketplace.

Review of the HTC EVO 4G

If your in the market for an android-powered device, this one is for you. After a month of using the HTC EVO 4G, I've had no issues what so ever. It is currently running Android 2.2 with the HTC Sense overlay. The 4.3-inch capacitive touch screen is a dream to use and is very durable. It also has both front and rear facing camera. It appears to have excellent build quality, and it feels nice and sturdy in your hands. Now with past devices, I have had issues with the bottom row of soft buttons, but with the EVO I haven't accidentally hit the wrong button because of the generous amount of space between them. The call quality is great and, coupled with the WiMAX network, speeds are amazing. The kickstand, which of course we've all made fun of, is actually very useful and convenient. Battery life is also amazing. With heavy web browsing, heavy texting, some calls, and playing music most of the time, I've been getting around 12-13 hours to a charge. This device is fantastic, and I would recommend it to anyone looking into buying an android phone, without hesitation.

Gaga for Google Goggles!

If you have an android-powered phone running version 1.6 or higher, then you are probably familiar with Google Goggles. Goggles takes web search to a whole new level. It uses your phone's built-in camera to take pictures of what you want to search for and gives you results. This technology is still new and this app is in beta, but it works terrifically on logos, landmarks, barcodes, text, artwork and books. One feature is still reigns as my favorite. The ability to scan business cards. If you scan the card, it will give you all the contact info, the ability to call that person, and add them to your contacts. Since this is still a new idea, there are some bugs, but all in all this app is cool and has great potential.
